Getting started with WriteUp is easy. 

  1. Build your custom plan by selecting the services you need.
  2. Get to know your Project Manager and introduce them to your brand.
  3. Approve ideas and start requesting content when you need it.

Even if you add no additional services to your plan and only sign up for the “base” plan, which gives you complete access to our platform, you’ll have a Project Manager by your side to help you. Here’s what they can do.

WriteUp caters to businesses with on-going content needs. If you don’t plan on requesting content at least once a month, our platform probably doesn’t fit your needs. If you have short-term content needs or a one-off project in mind (like a book), we’d suggest finding and hiring a freelance writer directly. 

Anytime you need content, simply submit a content request. All of your content is managed within your dashboard where you can share, discuss, and approve ideas and monitor the progress on active content pieces, which we call “content tasks.”

When you approve an idea, it officially becomes a content request. This is when you will pay for the content, based on the target word count. Your Project Manager will assign each request to the best writer, set a due date, and help coordinate details (like the content brief) to ensure it’s perfect.

Instead of you spending time sifting through profiles and proposals, your Project Manager will handpick writers for you. Writers are selected based on industry experience and writing style.

Your writing team may consist of a single writer or a handful of writers, depending on the volume of content you need. Your Project Manager will always approve “backup” writers in case a primary writer becomes unavailable, ensuring minimal disruption to your content schedule.

If you don’t need any services other than content writing, you should opt for our Base Plan, which gives you:

  • Unlimited access to the WriteUp platform and writer pool.
  • Unlimited content requests. 
  • A dedicated Project Manager to help coordinate your content.

As you get to know your Project Manager, you’ll see that they’re a huge asset for your brand. Read on to learn what your Project Manager will help you with.

Every WriteUp member gets a dedicated Project Manager to assist them. They will:

  • Create a Brand Style Guide to inform writers about your requirements.
  • Help you submit and approve content requests and revisions.
  • Assist in the creation of content briefs for your content requests.

Your Project Manager will become an even bigger asset if you opt for services like Content Planning and Performance Monitoring.

Content Planning is an optional service that takes the stress of coming up with content ideas off your shoulders. With this service, your Project Manager will coordinate with our content strategists, who will create and maintain a content calendar for your brand.

Content Planning does not have a monthly fee. Instead, you’ll pay a slightly higher per word rate, making this service infinitely scalable to meet your needs. Click here to learn more.

Content Optimization is an optional service that will improve performance. This service includes keyword research, identifying a primary keyword, secondary keyword, and semantically-related keywords for each piece of content.

This service addresses vital ranking factors, like keyword density, external links, internal links, alt tags, and meta data. You’ll receive an Optimization Report for every piece of content. Click here to learn more.

Performance Monitoring is an optional service that tracks telltale metrics including SERP positions, organic traffic, and level of engagement. When you opt in to this service, we’ll also monitor your website’s content for errors, broken links, and decaying content, giving you suggestions to maintain and improve performance.

Depending on your needs, reports can be sent weekly, monthly, or quarterly, with alerts set up for important notifications (like broken links) at an interval of your choosing. Click here to learn more.

Content Refreshers™ improve your existing content by updating aging statistics, replacing broken links, and ensuring the content’s style, voice, and structure match your brand.

When you order a Content Refresher™, keywords are defined or redefined and the content is fully optimized (even if you’re not signed up for Content Optimization).

If you have signed up for Performance Monitoring and we detect decaying content, you can purchase a Content Refresher™ to re-optimize, update, and expand upon that content to improve performance. Click here to learn more.

Your custom plan’s monthly fee is the sum of the Base Plan fee ($99/month) and the monthly cost of any services you request.

  • Our Base Plan costs $99/month and gives you complete access to the platform along with a dedicated Project Manager. 
  • We charge an additional $170/month if you opt in to our Content Optimization service. 
  • We charge an additional $100/month if you opt in to our Performance Monitoring service.

Other services, like Content Planning and Content Refreshers™, do not have a monthly fee. Instead, the pricing for these services scales based on content volume.

You only pay for content when you request it. We charge per word, which is standard practice in the industry. Your Project Manager will bill you each time you request content and the price you’ll pay includes research time, content planning (if you’ve opted in to this service), editing, and revisions. 

We suggest using our handy Cost Calculator to estimate how much you’ll pay for content, depending on the volume of words you intend to order and whether or not you’re opting in to our Content Planning service. If you’d rather do the math yourself, see below.

Content costs if you don’t opt for Content Planning…

  • You’ll pay 12 cents per word for your first 5,000 words in a given subscription period.
  • With our 20% Volume Discount, you’ll only pay 10 cents for every additional word during that period.

Content costs if you do opt for Content Planning…

  • You’ll pay about 16 cents per word for your first 5,000 words in a given subscription period.
  • With our 20% Volume Discount, you’ll only pay about 14 cents for every additional word during that period.

If you order more than 5,000 words in a given subscription period, you’ll save 20% on each additional word you order during that subscription period. We define “subscription period” as the 30-day period your monthly fee covers. 

Example: If your plan renews on January 1, your subscription period will last from January 1 through January 30. If your plan renews on July 5, your subscription period will last from July 5 through August 3. 

Using our Build Your Plan tool, select the services you want. The tool will show you three numbers:

  • Your plan’s monthly fee is how much you’ll pay every month, which is the sum of the platform base fee ($99/month) and the monthly cost of any services you have selected.
  • Your estimated content cost is there to help you predict how much you’ll pay for content. Change this number by using the slider to increase or decrease the number of words.
  • Your total estimated cost is the sum of your plan’s monthly fee in addition to your estimated content cost. Remember that you only pay for content when you request it and there are no minimums!

Your plan is meant to be flexible, so just ask your Project Manager if you wish to alter your plan.

You’ll only pay for content when you request it and there is no minimum number of words or minimum amount of content you need to request. If you don’t need any content in a given month, simply don’t request any. If you won’t need any content for a month or more, let your Project Manager know and they can pause your unused services so you don’t have to pay for them. 

We never charge overage fees. There is no “cap” or limit to the amount of content you can order within a given period. In fact, if you order more than 5,000 words in a given subscription period, you’ll save 20% on all additional words for that period thanks to our Volume Discount. 

We know that subscriptions are only convenient if they’re flexible and suited to your needs, which is why we allow you to alter your plan as your business changes and grows. If you would like to add or remove any services, just reach out to your Project Manager and they’ll be happy to update your custom plan. If you need to pause some or all of your services, your Project Manager can help with that, too.

Our top priority is ensuring that you’re thrilled with the quality of every piece of content your writers deliver. As such, we offer two revisions for each content request. Your Project Manager will help coordinate any revision requests with your writing team.

Revisions are free-of-charge, so long as they fit within the scope and word count of your initial request. Read our Revision Policy in detail.

There are no long-term commitments around here. Your monthly plan is set to renew every 30 days, but you can cancel at anytime. If you cancel mid-month, you may be eligible for a prorated refund for the unused portion of that month, depending on the services you have ordered and utilized.

If you won’t need content for a month or more, you can ask your Project Manager to pause your subscription, which is a good alternative to canceling if you plan on returning in the near future.

When you pause your subscription, all services become inactive. For example, if you signed up for Performance Monitoring, we will stop monitoring your website until you un-pause your subscription.

There may be a situation where you would like to withdraw a content request you just made or even cancel a request that has already been fulfilled.

Different policies apply depending on whether the writer has begun working or not, if you have already received a draft, if you have requested a revision, and so on. Please see our cancellation policy for details.
